Silver Desert Ring
These limited edition of works have been cast in silver from foraged and collected little botanicals I have gathered from my backyard and on my frequent meandering walks.
Perfectly captured in time- this small delicate ring features a sweet little cast succulent flower. I have kept these designs simple to show off the incredible detail of the casting. Soldered onto a 2mm sterling silver round and lightly hand beaten ring band, this piece is durable and timeless.
Incredibly enjoyable to create, and very time consuming. To cast these little wonders, I attach a number of botanical items to a wax sprue. The wax is then placed into a cylinder and filled with a liquid investment plaster that sets overnight. The cylinder mould is then placed upside down in a kiln and heated up until the leaf and wax sprues have completely burned away. Using a centrifugal casting machine recycled sterling silver is spun into the mould taking on the exact shape of the leaf left in the plaster. I then saw off the sprue and attach the casting to a ring band. Each process done with care and accuracy with some of the pieces not casting exactly as I would like! This blossom was a great success.
Dimensions – Ring sizes are always incredibly difficult to predict. I have created three of these rings in the Australian sizes of “P” , “Q” and “O-”
It is created entirely from reclaimed and recycled Sterling Silver, The Gauge (thickness) of the silver ring is 2mm making the piece strong and durable.
Made with lots of love, care, heart and soul.
This ring is ‘ready to go’ so please enjoy prompt shipping! This piece is part of a limited edition series where I have duplicated this design. Each will be slightly different, but all to a high standard.
RGSilver Products always come packaged which is also perfect for gift giving. My Makers Mark and a Sterling Silver 925 Hallmark are on the inside of the ring band.
