The Watchful Flame Pendant
Sterling silver, porcelain owl, and opal

A one-of-a-kind talisman, created as part of my Owl Collection.

At the heart of this pendant sits a porcelain owl cabochon — a steady, watchful presence — framed by a hand-fabricated silver shadow box. Beneath, a truly exceptional opal glows with shifting flashes of red, pink, green and soft apricot. This stone was cut by my mentor, Stephen Walsh, and is completely unique — its colours reveal themselves slowly, changing with the light and movement of the wearer.

The background of the pendant has been carefully oxidised and polished to create depth and contrast, allowing the owl and opal to stand forward. Small, hand-placed silver embellishment spheres add rhythm and quiet detail to the surface, celebrating the hand-made nature of the piece.

Measurements – 52mm long, 25mm wide, 10mm depth.

On the reverse, a hand-stamped compass is hidden just for the wearer — a private reminder to trust your own inner direction. The pendant is finished with my maker’s mark and the 925 sterling silver stamp, and hangs from a sterling silver chain.

This piece is presented in a wooden keepsake box with a black velvet backing, and includes a small framed lino print — an original artwork created by hand — featuring an Art Deco / Art Nouveau inspired owl face, designed to echo the spirit of the pendant.
